First Stop: London!

This trip is finally HERE. I don't know how many years I've been dreaming of going to Europe...and now I'm here. In London. With my husband. Life cannot get any better right now.

We're actually a week into our trip so far, but both internet and time have been rare commodities. To try and remember everything that we've done and all that we've learned, I'll be doing some catching up here over our next couple of days in Rome. This trip has opened our eyes to a whole other way of living. We are quickly learning just how expensive everything is. A can of soda at a restaurant in Venice costs 4,5 euros which translates to a little over 5 US dollars! A glass of water in Switzerland also costs 3 euros. Say whaaat?! Regardless, we are enjoying every minute of it. We are now capable of maneuvering the metro systems of London, Paris, and Rome with our eyes closed and bargaining to get cheaper hotel rooms (hah!). My French is also getting a tad better.

After our flights from Salt Lake to Cincinnati to New York to Iceland, and finally to London, we were both thoroughly exhausted. Lucky for us, one of my mom's best friend, Fion, lives in the UK within 15 minutes from the airport. She invited us over to her house, fed us, and let us sleep in the guest room overnight. I have not seen her since I was five, so it was so fun catching up with her and her husband! When we left early the next morning, she had sandwiches and fruits prepared for us so we wouldn't have to spend money buying lunch. (:

Because we booked the Eurostar to Paris so last minute, we were only able to spend one full day in London. We saw everything we wanted to see though! Off to Paris tomorrow!
