Day 15: Nice, France

Despite the fact that the beaches lining the French Riviera cannot even begin to compare to Hawaii, Nice was a perfect and relaxing last stop before going home to the US of A.
What is with all these rocks? The people tanning on the beach made it look SO comfortable. Trust me, it was not. At least the rocks were smooth and the water oh-so-blue.
Look at all that blue. Ahhh bliss (:
 Au revoir l'Europe! A bientot, j'espere!

Day 14: Cinque Terre

Here is our second day in Cinque Terre in pictures. Please excuse the many, many repetitive pictures of pretty much the same thing...I couldn't choose....I love this place!
The entrance to the famous Via dell' Amore, a trail between Riomaggiore and Manarola.
Utah represent!
Manarola! Breathtakingly stunning.

I couldn't help myself. This lady was cracking me up as she prepared herself to lie down at the beach.
Freezing Italian waters!
One of the BEST things we ate on our entire trip! Seafood risotto!
Vernazza basking in the dimming daylight.
LOVE.

Day 13: Pisa/Cinque Terre, Italy

Pisa is a charming but TINY little place. The only main attraction (that interested us at least) is the Leaning Tower of Pisa. It took us no more than 45 minutes to walk to the other end of the city and back. Pisa reminded us a lot of Florence actually.
Before seeing the tower, I completely underestimated how much the structure is leaning. It's leaning so much that I have no idea how it's survived for so long. And there are people at the top of the tower!
Mandatory tourist pictures
See? Doesn't it look like Florence?
Since there was nothing more we wanted to do in Pisa, we caught a train early to Monterosso of Cinque Terre. Monterosso al Mare would have to been the most "touristy" of the five villages with restaurants and souvenir shops dotting the shore. We then took a three minute long train ride to Vernazza, the village we were staying at. After thoroughly exploring the town with still sunlight to spare, we headed over to Corniglia before the sun went down. We decided to save Manarola and Riomaggiore for the next day.
Since seeing remarkable pictures of the place, I've been dying to come see Cinque Terre for myself. The quaint fishing villages, sloping terraces, and colorful houses took my breath away. Come see for yourself.
The food, especially the seafood, was wonderful. The fish we ordered was grilled to perfection.

Day 12: Florence, Italy

Florence was a short stop for us to see the Bronze Doors and Michelangelo's David.
Can you tell which is the real David?
Meagan is gonna yell at us for going to McDonalds...but we did because I wanted a Smarties McFlurry!

Day 11: Vatican City

Like the Colosseum, Vatican City is one place not to miss if you're ever in Rome. The tiny sovereign independent state is home to Saint Peter's Square and Basilica, the Sistine Chapel, and the Vatican Museums. Did you know that the Vatican Museums is the largest museum complex in the world with over 1400 rooms?? We sure didn't. Needless to say, we were not able to see the whole thing. Everything was fascinating though, and it was surreal just being there.
